My approach is intuitive, using green unseasoned wood mostly from around where we live.
While working the wood, it changes, moves and splits as the wood dries its nature changes, it becomes harder and reacts differently to being worked. Most of the pieces have been weathered for some months and then being reworked, usually this is a process of refinement sometimes the piece morphs into something entirely different. Before I start a piece the wood needs to give me an idea. I need to see something within the shape or structure of the log that I can bring out.
