I am a painter of landscapes and focus on places which have a personal significance and also have echoes of the ancient past. My two current places are an ancient protected woodland in North Devon which was also a childhood playground. I also paint at St David's, a more recent discovery of dramatic cliffs, vast space and ancient ruins and resonance. I work outside as much as possible so I can explore and develop the special meaning and poetry of these areas. I also produce automatic, abstract paintings responding to colours and materials in the spirit of a child's natural instinct to create.
