Jane Anderson Wood is a professional painter and Chairman of the Dorking Group of Artists.
I specialise in painting landscapes and the depiction of water in watercolour. Living in Surrey, both of my local rivers, the River Wey and the River Mole, have been major sources of inspiration, along with regular visits to Scotland and the New Forest. For the last couple of years I have been working as artist in residence at Painshill Park, finding themes in the lakes and trees. The most important thing for me is to spend time in the landscape and become familiar with it, so that my paintings are not merely a record of the place, but a personal interpretation of it. I use watercolour in both a traditional and a contemporary way transforming my subjects into light and colour, to capture my imaginative response to the world around me.
