Jim Tucker

Assemblage Found Objects

Inspired by found materials that possess qualities of colour, form and surface quality. Jim's work is an art form midway between painting and sculpture. Sometimes austere, sometimes whimsical, it is predominantly abstract and heavily influenced by the Constructivists. The work takes form in abstacts, landscapes, figures and sculpture. Prints, photography and paintings also feature.

She has exhibited nationwide as well as Germany, Barcelona, India and the USA. Commissions include Dell Computers, Kings College Hospital and numerous bars and restaurants. She has featured on arts and interiors programmes on BBC2 and Channel 4 and in publications such as idFX Interior Design magazine and The Times colour supplement.

I often work with plastics, such as bags, bottletops and fishing line. These are all materials and objects that do untold damage to our environment if left to biodegrade on their own. Accumulation is followed by the re-contextualisation and elevation of the materials into an artwork ...
