Kathy Adams

Colour and pattern inspire my work. As a painter and printmaker I create abstract canvases in acrylic paint as well as linoprints, screen prints, etchings, collagraphs and monoprints. I also make unique collages from papers I have worked using painting and printmaking techniques. I am thrilled by the interplay of colour and form and by the power of unexpected combinations. Whether working in my garden studio, in my kitchen or outdoors, and looking at both natural and man made subjects, I am drawn to grids, intersecting lines and the shapes formed by the gaps. Even with careful planning, I am often pleasantly surprised by the unpredictable outcome of the layering and masking techniques I employ.
