Alison Smith – Lunar Glass
After studying graphic design and specialising in illustration at Winchester School of Art I was looking to find a medium to work in. Usually working in pen on paper creating tonal images and organic patterns, I felt that I wanted to make my artwork in a more permanent medium. I happened to meet a glass artist and gradually became more involved with helping her make glass work for shows. After 8 years working alongside her I started my own business, Lunar Glass, in 2019 from my dads shed. I primarily work in fused glass using a variety of contemporary fusing techniques alongside traditional stained glass painting. I love to depict animals and plants in my work, as well as flowing organic patterns. I also have fun producing Christmas decorations featuring charming festive characters as well as more traditional designs. I approach my work with a high attention to detail, which is very important to me. I am fascinated with the endless possibilities of working in glass, and the challenges it poses.
