Ania McClafferty

I focus on wheel thrown, stone ware ceramics in simple, traditional shapes and love natural patterns of materials which emerge from reduction firing and alternative firing methods like raku and pit firing, to produce both functional and decorative pieces. My experience with printing techniques inspires surface decoration of my ceramics, including carving and use of stencils, masking and wax resist. I am fascinated by layering of slips, oxides and glazes to explore new, flowing textures and effects in soft palette of whites, greys, blues and ochre.
