AskaArt by Aska Gough

Mixed Media artist

I’m Aska Gough, a Surrey-based mixed-media artist and researcher. I create richly textured, abstract works inspired by minerals, organic matter, and the energies of the natural world around me. In my art, I use foraged woodland treasures such as bark and twigs, alongside minerals, crystals, and other tactile elements. I combine these with collage, texture pastes, pigments, and epoxy resin to build layered surfaces that invite close looking and a tactile response. My practice explores the dialogue between organic and synthetic materials, rough and glossy finishes, and stillness and flow, guided by intuitive, heart-led making. Through my work, I aim to create sensory pieces that invite a deeper connection with nature and the self. I also make jewellery and functional art, and I run mixed-media and resin workshops at my studio on Prey Heath in Woking, as well as at the Guildford Institute and Lockwood Studios Alongside my studio practice, I research accessibility in art and am currently developing an R&D project focused on inclusive ways of describing and experiencing artwork.
