Claire Nelson is best known for her striking sculptures of human figures and marine life in bronze and bronze resin for both house and garden. Mostly modelling in wax, the artist also uses natural objects such as old wood as a starting point for her pieces. She likes to keep a rawness in her work, aiming for a striking, bold and expressive style. Whilst representational, her work is driven by feelings and sensations, often resulting in highly evocative, emotional pieces. Always inspired by nature, a key theme in many of her works is metamorphosis and change; the quintessence of life. The power, beauty and delicate balance of man's inextricable bond with the natural world is another important thread running through her work. She also enjoys exploring the theme of nature in her fun fruit and vegetable plaques and sculptures which work well both indoors and out.
