Dawn Thornhill

Since childhood, I have been fascinated by the simplicity and endless potential of paper. My main passion is creating bespoke lightboxes which truly capture a moment in time. I hand cut, layer and light to create three-dimensional structures that capture the beauty of the natural word. All my lightboxes are A5. Watching a piece evolve from sketch, to design, adapting as I cut and seeing the delicacy of the shadows creating contrast on the layers will always be magical to me. More recently, I have been working on creating a series of pieces consisting of smaller cuts, around a theme, to record the positive impact the natural environment has had during these strange times. Every print that is sold raises funds for wildlife charities.
