Elizabeth Calthorpe

Painter

After several years as an actress, Elizabeth Calthorpe married and started painting. Her work has been exhibited by the Society of Wildlife Artists and Women Artists and by several UK galleries, and is in private collections in the USA and Singapore. She is a member of the Society of Equestrian Artists. Originally working in oils, she now uses gouache, pen and wash and mixed media (which can include acrylic, pastels inks, etc.) She loves painting most subjects - animals, land and seascapes, beach scenes, still life - and has sketched the pupils rehearsing at the Yehudi Menuhin School of Music, which has given her much pleasure. "I respond instinctively to Nature - its life and movement, mood atmosphere and colour. I find it an exciting and inspirational challenge which I try to capture in a literal or more imaginative way."
