The first time I touched clay was at Senior School. There was a long gap until I retired from Nursing during the Covid pandemic. Then with an electric wheel a large kiln and a studio in the garden, I was away. If I miss a few days away from clay, that is too long! I am now a passionate potter. Stoneware clay is my favourite and also occasionally work in porcelain. I originally trained after school as a graphic designer, so now I have a canvas to use my art training knowledge for my designs. With the lovely colours of underglazes I can use my passion for patterns and design. Bowls and plates I particularly enjoy making by handbuilding or throwing on the wheel, then decorating where I can use a large colour pallette. I do take on commissions too and working with the client to understand what is wanted is a great privilege.
