Hilary Jones
painter
As a child I always loved painting but my parents prevented me from following art as a career. So when I retired a few years ago I decided to follow my heart at last. Joining an art class I was surprised when another student asked to buy my first painting. This encouraged me to join Molesey Art Society and Oxshott Art and Crafts Society with whom I have exhibited ever since. I have enjoyed many sales from these exhibitions as well as private exhibitions.
I do not have a style "per se", as I always want to try something different and new. I therefore work in many different media including oil, acrylic, pastel, alcohol ink, ink and wash, and resin sometimes mixing these together in mixed media work.
Subjects include Abstracts, Land and Sea- scapes, Animals (including pet portraits)
I also love to add texture to my work and with some of my abstracts add gold and silver leaf as well as jewels . The resin is used here to protect and give a lustrous finish to the painting. I also use resin solely, adding pigments to create interesting images. I also make most of my own frames.
