James Roe

James is a local artist exploring pastels, acrylics with mixed media and collage . The quick drying properties of acrylics allow him to work responsively using a dynamic layered painting technique. The sea and coastline feature heavily in his work especially the familiar coastlines of the isle of Wight and the landscapes of the Surrey hills and the South Downs. He enjoys pushing the balance between realism and abstraction whilst still capturing the sense and feeling of the place.
