Jan Hite

I produce ceramic vessels and sculptures. The plastic properties of the material allow me to experiment with forms and shapes. I handbuild with coils and sometimes slabs to produce large pots or constructed sculptures using various geometric shapes. I also produce a series of wall sculptures loosely based on natural forms or imaginary creatures. I prefer to use simple glazes which allow the method of construction to be apparent. My figurative sculptures are taken from life. I will, if required, produce moulds and cast work in various metal resins.
