Trained as a tapestry weaver my tapestries depict landscapes using a wide range of yarns in varying colours and textures. My inspiration comes from the inter-play of the natural contours of the landscape with shapes and patterns created by different crops in the changing seasons. The pieces are always based on actual scenes and begin with a sketch or painting on site. I often visit the same scene but from a different angle and in a different light. My watercolour painting is usually drawn from plants and flowers in ink with fluid colour washes. I enjoy the relative speed and freedom of painting compared with the slow weaving process which is very time intensive.
