Jim Robertson
Photographer
I grew up as an analogue photographer, capturing images on film. But nowadays my images are digital and taken with whatever camera I have with me at the time. Whichever capture medium I use, my printed output is almost always black and white. I find the absence of colour removes distractions.
My photography has always been driven by shape and texture. Digital processing allows these be further emphasised.
I tend to be a flaneur. I observe, photograph what I find interesting and then let the images speak. Here there are examples of modern buildings, alive and productive and others which were once vibrant and essential, but which are now silent and abandoned. As they decay, they still bear witness to the hopes of their users over the years.
