Ceramics
I am an experienced Tutor and Ceramicist, self exploration and the sparking of ideas take unexpected and delightful journeys when shared through teaching. Most of my early work was usable high fired ware made at West Meon Pottery and later a workshop at home. Work was sold at Exhibitions and Galleries throughout England. I have been teaching for some time at West Street Potters , Farnham Pottery, and running events that involve the wider community to encourage people of all ages to experience working with clay. The most recent clay based event was part of Farnham Craft Town Month. More Recently I’ve been beguiled by the sensual nature of lower fired red Earthenware clay using coloured slip painted or poured on flat clay sheets then stretched when dry enough to handle. The distortion of images and qualities of slip as it moves across the surface bring an unpredictable element , no two pieces are ever the same. The clay sheets can then be persuaded into bowls , dishes and upright forms. I enjoy throwing short runs of pots to use and continue to champion 'Making as the universal infrastructure of creative production'
