Mark Phillips

My painting varies from figurative/portraits to abstract works. I often use photos / found images as a starting point when the work then can become a matter of intuition & accident. My aim is to create interest for the viewer in order that they can become engaged in the work & use their imagination, finding their own enjoyment & some form of meaning. I continue to experiment [mainly using acrylics] & therefore have not become 'dependant' upon a particular style or genre. I am satisfied that their will always be times when a particular path I take is not successful, and accept this is all part of seeking to improve my practice.
