Meghna Arya

I gained a fine art degree at the College of Art in Delhi, India with a specialisation in sculpture. After relocating to London in the early 2000s I concentrated on expanding my knowledge in pottery by attending various courses from well known potters. I have set up an independent studio since 2014, and have exhibited at various craft fairs since then. My work is functional and decorative, wheel thrown in earthenware clays. The dark iron-rich clay captivated me towards earthenware. I was drawn to it for its liveliness and contrast of colors! My making tends to be more precise with clean lines, while the decorations using slip are usually loser and more spontaneous. I especially enjoy slip trailing and sgraffito - something I constantly try to get better at!
