Painter, textiles  |  Visit Open Studio

I am a professional Artist from Surrey, UK, working with acrylic and oil paints primarily on canvas. I can paint a diverse range of subjects; landscapes, portraits, still life, but my main passion is a form of abstracted stylised realism. I am inspired by the beauty of the colours and shapes found within the natural world. My aim is to combine vibrant colours and magical patterns, mixing realism with the abstract, to produce an intrinsically powerful visual impact for the viewer. I grew up near Hampton Court Palace and was mesmerised from a young age by the colours and patterns contained within the architecture of the buildings. I gained a 2:1 Art degree at Canterbury and then subsequently had a 15-year break from painting to pursue my career in other areas and bring up my two children. The Covid lockdowns of 2020 and 2021 allowed me the time to rekindle my passion for painting and being creative was immensely therapeutic during this challenging time. I am also passionate about Textiles and produce handmade fashion garments of my designs. I have volunteered creatively in the community and am a founder member of The GladRags Gang, the in-house textiles group at West Horsley Place. I have exhibited at Sandown Park Racecourse, AppArt, High Clandon Vineyard, Denbies and The New Ashgate Gallery in Farnham. I am a volunteer and member Artist of ArtCan, a not-for-profit organisation empowering Artists, and as such, I exhibited twice in London during 2023. I was also a finalist for Surrey Artist of the Year 2023. I regularly accept painting commissions and have excellent testimonials. I also produce greetings cards of my work which are very popular. I would be delighted to discuss any ideas, inspiration, or personal commissions with you directly, and offer a free consultation for bespoke creations.
