After graduating from Goldsmiths College, London, with a BA Degree in Fine Art Painting, I had a long career as a book designer and visualiser for international publisher Dorling Kindersley, and later worked as a book illustrator and an animator in film animation. I returned to my roots in oil painting in 2009. As an artist living in the Surrey Hills, I am near to the openness of the North Downs with their fine views, and surrounded by beautiful mixed woodland. These landscapes and trees are the main source of my inspiration. I respond to my subjects by simplifying down to the essentials: the colours, pattern and rhythms, to achieve a vivid sense of place.
