Shijun specialising in the intersection of traditional Chinese art forms and contemporary practice. Her work has distinctive Far Eastern characteristics, drawing from nature’s patterns and rhythms while exploring how different cultures, in particular Chinese culture, interpret and learn from the natural world. Growing up with breathtaking landscapes of Guilin in Southern China, the beauty and power of nature has always been the inspiration in her art; the love of Chinese literature and philosophy forms foundations of her practice. She brings a stillness that rhymes with the rhythms of the natural world and to share the wonder and appreciation for its intricate beauty with its audience.
