Shriyani Batuwitage

I am a ceramic artist and retired teacher specialising in the creation of decorative functional and non-functional works. I initially drew inspiration from traditional cooking pots, and subsequently developed my craft in contemporary style. I create refined pieces such as platters, bowls, vases, jugs, and water decanters. Through years of experience, I have developed a series of unique interpretations of traditional forms, reimagined in a contemporary style. These works are sympathetically embellished with colour and pattern to create distinctive, collectible artworks. Alongside my strong interest in hand printing and hand painting onto vessels, each pattern is carefully planned and designed before being applied to individual pieces.
