Mixed-media Portrait Workshop.
Saturday 19 October 1:00-3:00 at BlueHouse Art Space.

Who is this for?.
This workshop will help and inspire both new and experienced artists to develop their creative processes.
What will we do?
The aim of the workshop is to free up our painting styles by working across all areas with speed in order to produce dynamic and colourful portraits. To begin with, collaged coloured tissue will be applied establishing tonal values in broad areas to create a ground.

On to this we will paint using acrylics. By the end of the session you should have a vibrant portrait and hopefully, a new approach that you can use in your own work.

What you need to bring.
Materials and equipment will be provided.
Source images to work from will be available but also feel free to bring your own. When selecting an image to work from, choose just the head and shoulders of your subject. Make sure that it has strong light and shadow as this will help with the composition of your artwork. Your mobile phone will also be helpful for this exercise.

About the tutor.
David is an experienced tutor who has worked with both mature and young students in further and higher education for many years.

His own painting is evocative, based primarily from observation; his sculptural pieces are more abstracted. He has exhibited in the UK and USA, both solo and group shows. David’s work is in private collections in this country and abroad.
