Mona Craven | Framed, a pop-up Window Event
June 6 - June 30
Windows frame spaces, frames are windows of past and present. Cloth contain tales from near and far. Every chair holds its story. Future stories unfold in the studio.
Mona Craven, a Farnham based textile fine-artist and researcher presents Framed, during June 2021, at a pop-up window event. The cultural heritage of two symbolic cloths, a whitework embroidered cloth and an indigo resist print cloth inspire Mona’s creative practice connecting cloth and spaces past and present. Her practice can be seen in the studio window of Sarah Louise Dix, a designer maker and traditional upholsterer. Mona’s work materialises stories-so-far of cloth into art-textiles installations, drawings and photogravure prints.
The window is open for viewing sunrise to sunset until the end of June at Sarah Louise Dix’s Upholstery Studio, within walking distance of Farncombe station or a short drive from Godalming. This fascinating treasure trove of fabric and chairs is open 10:30 to 16:00 weekdays and 10:30 to 1:00 on Saturdays. Here, at Sarah Louise Dix Upholstery Studio, the stories held in chairs are formed into new stories.
