Working in the landscape I create small en-plein paintings and use them as a framework for larger abstract works in the studio. Working from simple sketches and memory I create an emotional and gestural response to the subject aiming to harness the energy of those final marks and the accidental.
My work is inspired by the landscape of Surrey, West Sussex and Hampshire, in addition to the Cornish coastline where I will be spending much of 2019 at Newlyn Art School.
I have work in private collections both at home and abroad and have had work selected and exhibited at the National Open Art.
