Welcome to SAOS 2019!
We are delighted to introduce our 2019 summer event, which is our biggest to date with 180 studios and 297 artists taking part across the county and nearby borders. This is a fantastic opportunity to meet Surrey-based artists and find out more about their work, take part in a workshop and find inspiring artworks to take home. This year we are celebrating with a launch weekend on 1 & 2 June featuring plenty of events and open studios to visit.
This summer SAOS has awarded four bursaries to emerging and recent graduate artists to take part in Open Studios: Jennifer Court and Celeste C. da Luz, Anna Louise Cox and Uriya Jurik. Look out for the symbol.
Joining us for this county-wide event has many benefits; not only are you supporting artists in the local community, you could also be inspired to have a go, learn a new skill and make something. There are many artist-led trails to help you plan a day out – some can be walked or cycled, combining culture, exercise and our beautiful Surrey landscapes. Plan your visits using our interactive map or the brochure (ring 01483 518625 for a copy) and we hope to see you in an open studio soon.
Caitlin Heffernan, Programme Manager, Surrey Artists’ Open Studios
We would like to thank all our funders and sponsors, in particular the New Ashgate Gallery, the Patricia Baines Trust, the Districts and Boroughs of Surrey, our Area Coordinators and Steering Group, but most importantly our artists – without whom this event would not be possible.

Many of the artists organise trails that link nearby studios together. See the trails, studios, dates and maps here. You can also pick up trail maps at participating studios.
Studios will be open between 11am–5pm (but there are a few exceptions so please check individual listings). There are late night openings on Thursdays from 6pm–8.30pm. Artists select the days that they are open and these are clearly highlighted.
You can easily plan to visit several studios on one day with the help of our interactive map.

SAOS is delighted to be partnering once again with the exhibitions app gowithYamo. This will allow visitors to see which studios are open near to their location, with details of the studio address and images of the artist’s work. Artist trails will also be included this year, but you can also put together your own trail of studios to visit. Search for gowithYamo in the app store to download the app.
