Penny Fleet BA Hons MA (RCA)

Mixed media artist

I trained in Textile Design at Brighton and the RCA specialising in Woven Textiles, and since then I have worked as a designer, freelancer and teacher. I mainly use mixed media to create colourful, creative and expressive artwork reflecting my love of flowers, birds, the countryside and the sea. I combine hand-decorated paper collage with paint, ink, fabric and other materials to build up layers of texture and colour. I also make felt from Merino wool fibres using the wet-felting method. I exhibit locally and run small, inspiring workshops in collage and feltmaking from my rural garage studio.

Lucy Burley

Ceramicist

My work is an exploration of colour and form: I make vessels on the wheel - elegant, simple forms such as bottles, vases, jugs and bowls - which are both beautiful and useful. I glaze my work in a wide range of colours inspired by nature: flowers, birds' eggs, the sea and sky. The smooth exterior is an eggshell-textured glaze which I formulated myself while at Camberwell Art School. My vessels are functional but can also be displayed purely decoratively, as the shapes and colours work together in 'family groups' reminiscent of the still-life paintings of Morandi, one of my inspirations.
