Janet Gale

Potter, Sculptor and Watercolour Artist

My stoneware and porcelain pottery is hand thrown, each piece having its own unique character, dishwasher, oven, microwave and food-safe. Glazes are developed using mostly cobalt and copper oxides with rutile, often layering one over the other to make them flow, dipping serveral times in different glazes. I enjoy sculpture and produce figures from life models, these take many hours to make, but give me great pleasure. I also teach pottery on the wheel. Although I now concentrate on ceramics, watercolour was my first love and I still enjoy painting and the unexpected results you can achieve.

See the artist's SAOS Member web page for more.

Janet Gale welcomes visitors all year round by appointment.
