Melody Sills

Ceramic Artist

My porcelain vessels have taken a new direction. They are first thrown on the wheel then decorated using two unusual decorative techniques. Water etching that produces a fine translucent body and then painted with metallic salts. These rare salts create flowing watercolour effects in shades of blue, green and yellow. These techniques excentuate the porcelain’s translucency. I create art pieces as well as a range of functional vases of all sizes. Qualities I like to show in my ceramics are porcelain’s natural translucency and by throwing as fine as possible it’s ability to reflect light.
