Julia Roberts-brown

Ceramicist

I take my inspiration from the natural world around me, the surrey country side and the Cornish coast. Working in white stoneware, porcelain and red earthenware, I have a studio in my garden where I have all the equipment I need, potters wheel, slab roller and kilns. I have been potting for 17 years and teach at Adult education in Guildford as well as being their technician where I run the pottery, firing all of the work and make the glazes. My long term goal is to teach small classes from home, so watch this space!!

Fused Glass, Textiles, Painting

My work is inspired by local landscapes and my beloved garden. Living in the Surrey Hills, there are always beautiful scenes to inspire - Heather in Summer, Bluebell woods and Autumns rich tapestry of colour are amongst the highlights of my year. I work from a small studio in my garden. I am a self taught artist and think the key is to just experiment and enjoy your creativity. I also do some sessional teaching at the Meath Epilepsy Trust in Godalming. I have tried so many different mediums and should probably stick to one or two, but then think - LIFES TOO SHORT - JUST CREATE
