Janine Pound

Textile artist

I draw my inspiration from the natural world, using landscapes for whole cloth wall hangings and local scenes and flowers for smaller-scale embroideries referring to photographs as a starting point. My childhood spent in Zambia has had a great influence on the colours I prefer to use – the ochres of the African soil and the dusty yellows and browns of the sun-dried savannah grasslands. I use thickened procion dyes either painted or mono-printed on to cotton to create the background landscape into which I then hand or machine stitch to provide detailed texture and imagery.

Ciara Pound

Painter

I am an abstract acrylic and mixed media artist. My work is primarily focused on movement of paint, interaction of colours and using unusual tools and processes to make marks. While painting, I build layers of paint to create rich landscapes of vibrant colour. I rarely use a paintbrush, instead preferring to 'play' with the paint, and it is this unpredictability of my working practice which allows me to create spontaneous and emotionally driven work.

Gloria Whiting

Textiles and Ceramics

Gloria is a mixed media artist, inspired primarily by nature and her love of the natural world. She is heavily influenced by fluidity of form in trees and leaves, and her local countryside. She uses painting, hand dyeing and texture to bring her subject matter to life. In recent years, she has focused on ceramics, glass, mosaic work and textiles. Her work has been exhibited extensively in France – in Paris, Versailles, Saint Germain en Laye and Saint Nom La Bretèche.

Daisy May Collingridge

Illustrator

The artist behind DMC illustrations is Daisy. She works with pen and watercolour to create whimsical illustrations of animals. Each illustration is the culmination of several hours of ‘research’ drawings where she studies each animal to understand how it moves, before creating an impossible stack of beasts. Attention to detail is an important aspect to her practice and each drawing tells a story. Daisy is a graduate from Central Saint Martins and has drawn in some capacity all her life.
