Martin Tyler MA

Ceramicist

Martin makes reduction-fired, wheel-thrown and press-moulded stoneware. He trained in Farnham under renowned potters Henry Hammond and Paul Barron. Martin makes his glazes from natural materials including local clay and wood ash. These are applied when the work is still damp and all his pottery is fired just once. Decoration makes use of sgraffito, paper and brushwork resist, combing and sprigging and colour is often introduced through the use of clay slips. All work is safe to use in the dishwasher and oven.

See the artist's SAOS Member web page for more.

Martin Tyler welcomes visitors all year round by appointment.
