Introduction to Acid Dyeing
Tuesday 4th June
10am - 4pm
all day light lunch is included
Acid dye is not acidic, but is set using vinegar. They are chemical dyes and a huge variety of colours can be produced with them. They are hot water dyes and the colours created can be repeated accurately and simply. For this workshop we will be dyeing wool yarn, in 10g hanks, creating samples and recording the process. You will learn to mix dyes, create dye recipes, make dye baths and will dye yarn following the 12 colours of the colour wheel. At the end of the day you will have 36 samples to take home, plus an acid dye kit so that you can have more adventures with colour at home.
Only two places are offered on each workshop to ensure one to one tuition and maximum hands on experience. Bring apron and gloves. All materials provided.
