Resident artists, Tania Oko and Becca Clegg, whose working studios will be open for Open Studios and who will be demonstrating at certain times, are joined by well known local artists David Dragon and Nicola Keelan, photographers Diana Uzun and Rebecca King, printmaker Helen Locke, ceramicists Liane Matthews and Julie Barham and glass artist Fran Mccaskill.

Tania Oko trained at Central St Martins. Her recent abstract work blurs the lines between ”hard edge” and fluid paintings. She works mostly with paint, inspired by how light alters images and creates new forms, with her main inspiration coming from looking at distorted or reflected images or landscapes. She simplifies and abstracts an image and builds it back to form something new.

Becca Clegg paints dramatic landscapes of views that inspire her: swathes of flowers, dramatic sea views, woodlands where she walks with her family. Her paintings are uplifting. In 2017-18 Becca was commissioned to paint large work for Ward F14 at Frimley Park Hospital, to lift the spirits of the elderly. Her joyful acrylic paintings transport you away to beautiful places. New large and small sea views of Porlock, Exmoor, Cornwall, Norfolk coast and flowerfields will be available to purchase.

Following years spent in design, advertising and media, David Dragon, who lives close by, continues to draw inspiration from music, film, TV, literature, current events, social and family history. Much of his work is created as a series, linked by a common theme. David likes to work in a variety of styles and mediums, adding some spice to the working day.

Oil painting, landscapes and city shapes are Nicola Keelan’s passion. She’s been a professional artist for the last decade and honed her skill and passion into layered and soaked in detail scenes of interest. Nicola has managed her artist business along side a job for the NHS, finding solace from a busy career in the quiet flow of painting.

Award winning photographer, Diana Uzun, has won the Surrey Photographic Association best nature picture twice – 2016 (for a Satellite fly blowing a bubble) and 2017 (for a Large Red damselfly mid metamorphosis). She is a photographer with a love of the arts and of nature. These two things drive her photography in both subject matter and style. Recent works reflect her concern regarding climate change and the catastrophic collapse of insect populations worldwide.

Rebecca King currently specialisers in creating prints of wet cyanotypes. These are made in her garden with natural light, and as the patterns and colours emerge at random she photographs them. The semi-abstract images can be bought as prints, cards and cushions.

Helen Locke is a Printmaker and Illustrator, focusing on fresh and colourful screen print. As Artist in Residence at Ochre Print Studio in 2018 she discovered the Heat Transfer process which can be layered with print and foil. Inspired by the local vineyards Helen will be offering a workshop at OKO Art to decorate your own neoprene wine cooler using the heat press.

Liane Matthews creates beautiful ceramic pieces. From a menagerie of ceramic animals – beautifully textured and wonderfully tactile to decorated and textured torso art through to individually crafted ceramic jewellery – lightweight yet strong with delicate details inspired by nature.

Julie Barham handcrafts both tableware and more decorative creations for the home or garden inspired by the natural world and beautiful things.

Fran McCaskill was born in London and trained as a graphic designer. She has over 15 years commercial design experience then she discovered glass! She is self taught and is constantly experimenting. She uses subtle muted tones and is inspired by nature which is a recurring theme in her work with a graphic twist!

Their mixed portfolio of work creates an interesting group exhibition, with work at a range of sizes and prices in this light and airy gallery space.
