I trained in London, Edinburgh and Paris and now live in Surrey. I create portraits and landscapes and am a lover of nature. My works span acrylic paint, oil, charcoal and pencil but I am foremost a painter and prefer to work in acrylics. I choose subjects that lift the soul, are life affirming and hopefully bring joy to the viewer. My style explores the gap between realism and the innate beauty of the medium I am working with. For me acrylic paint delivers the intensity, immediacy and saturation of colour to bring a heightened sense of realism. My flower paintings exploit this hyperrealism and explore in detail the beauty of nature. Not as an impressionistic view from a distance but as a more detailed analytical study of shape, line, colour, light and shade. It’s about creating impact, something that will strike you from afar but also draw you in for a closer look.
