Father and Son at Sandfels Studio – David and Will Johns

Our rural garden family studio is home to paintings in watercolour, acrylic and mixed media. We share the space and you will find work inspired by landscape, figurative and abstract themes. 

The studio is located at the bottom of our garden and has lovely views over the Surrey Hills. Access is along a track off Park Lane at the end of which is parking for several cars. Then a walk through the garden brings you to our studio. 

If you visit on a good day, save time for a wander and take in the views from our “Covid Wood”. A special place where we were able to get some fresh air during the pandemic.

In the studio you will see how and where we work. Most of my paintings are in watercolour and feature semi-abstracted compositions from my favourite landscapes.  I also use acrylic paint for larger compositions with greater abstraction and colour intensity. Will uses acrylic paint for all his figurative and abstract paintings and mixed media for his collage. They feature  wacky portraits, colourful abstracts and places that we know and love. My part of the studio is nice ‘n tidy, Will’s area is an art installation in itself. But we work just as well together as separately and look forward to showing you around.
