Janet Gale – gonetopotceramics

No two pieces of my work are the same, each piece is handcrafted and carefully considered from the initial design stage through to the finished piece, a truly hand produced product,  taking many hours to complete starting with a lump of clay and finally a finished piece which will last many years.

My functional ware is oven, dishwasher and microwave safe. I make all my own glazes (blue, greens and turquoise / sea green), which are unique to me and I love to experiment mixing glazes, one of top of the other, then letting the kiln do its magic, never sure what the results will be, sometimes full of disappointment other times full of glee.

Holding and using handcrafted pottery gives you a sense of connection with the maker, and I as a maker I am very humbled that my pots are in homes everywhere being used everyday.

I use mostly stoneware clay, but sometimes porcelain, a delicate clay, that  gives a lovely translucent finish.
