Kim Cody

My paintings are purely abstract and have no intentional moral, idealogical or political meaning although inevitably all art reflects the time in which it is conceived.  The artist’s anxieties, observations, thoughts and fears are embedded within the work.  The paintings are composed of divisions and layers of contrasting tones, textures and colours informed by studies, photographs and drawings made out in the landscape and built environment.

Throughout my career I have explored both traditional, representational ways of working and more experimental, intuitive methods.  My aim is to present my artworks as items in their own right, as the product of an individual’s own personal experience and interpretation of the world.  The human imagination is one of the most valuable assets we posses and is what makes a work of art truly unique.
