Sarah van den Broek

I paint landscapes and seascapes, particularly in the winter, to remind myself of summer days. I use acrylic paint and ink, layering for texture and depth. It’s a repeat process of visiting the canvas, using all types of application, thick gesso, tissue, using card, wire wool and sponge. I am a messy painter and take paint on and off, using quite a lot of water, so my studio floor is a painting in itself. I work with various sizes of canvas but always go big and bold in my use of colour.
