Shriyani Batuwitage – Garden Studio
I am a trained, professional ceramic artist with over 20 years of teaching experience. My work comprises wheel-thrown and hand-built made in stoneware and porcelain clay. Each piece is high-fired and painted using body stains and oxides.
My decorating style is based in the traditional Majolica technique, where drawing, printing and painting is applied to raw, unfired glazed ware prior to firing 1200 degrees Celsius.
The figurative images are manually printed onto vessels using silk screen printing and hand painted with underglaze colours. Some of the patterns are carefully planned and designed following the Asmic tradition before being applied to individual pieces.
While the materials and techniques used allow the work to function as usable ware, the primary purpose of these ornate pieces is for display as interior decorative pieces.
Ceramic artworks are for sale. Prices range between £100 to £500. Both cash and card are accepted.
