Sue Ransley Art
My studio is in our garden at home, set amidst fabulous countryside, and enjoying views across to the South Downs. It’s a working studio, so my easel and current works in progress will be on view, as well as work for sale, which will be a mix of oils and acrylics – but all people paintings, as that is my sole focus. There are now a number of portraits creeping into my work too, but in the main my work is observational – capturing movement or moments that are familiar. Often using humour in the image or title, I’m drawn to expressing our warmth and humanity – our ordinariness!
There are also browsers of my watercolour, gouache and mixed media work. I sometimes use these mediums for experiments and studies of what will later become larger works. But I also just enjoy the otherness these mediums provide – watercolour especially requires a whole different mindset.
Many of my observational paintings have been produced as greeting cards, and these will be available, along with a small range of prints.
It’s a relaxed studio, and I’m happy to talk art, or chat through my work and process – and it’s a fabulous area for walks – so I do hope you’ll come visit!
Original work ranging from £35 to £1,500. Giclee and limited edition prints £35 to £150 Greeting Cards £2.50 Credit and Debit Cards accepted
We have parking for 2/3 cars in our drive, and overflow parking in the field opposite. Covid measures are in place with masks, gloves and hand sanitiser provided. Double doors into the studio will be open for full ventilation, and the garden provides ample space for social distancing. A gravel drive, and a step up into the studio makes wheelchair access difficult. Single groups of up to 5 or 6 can enter the studio at any one time, but we also have ample garden space for those waiting.
In the village is the award winning Kirdford Village Stores which offers takeaway coffees/teas etc as well as light lunches, cakes and treats. There are also two pubs in the village, and others in Balls Cross and Northchapel nearby.
We are in beautiful, but properly rural, countryside, so coming by car is the only viable option.
