I’m a contemporary artist and printmaker exploring abstracted layers of texture and mark-making to create expressive landscapes and meadow-scapes on wood panels and cast plaster. Works range from littles on plaster at 20cm square to larger 1 metre paintings on wood panels.

I work intuitively, seeing more when I’m not focused on the detail which means I use a variety of mixed media from acrylics to ink to oil pastels that capture the experience rather than the reality of each landscape.

The River Thames and South Downs are an especially strong influence. Tapestry-like fields with bold monotone blocks alongside meadows filled with a tangle of wild flowers are deconstructed into abstract layers of texture to create paintings that are more dreamscape than landscape.

Further afield, the texture, form and colour of North Norfolk are interpreted through some of my mixed media pieces with the little works on plaster creating a more 3-D effect.

My paintings are exhibited at galleries and contemporary art fairs around the country, but my favourite time is during Summer Open Studios, welcoming so many of you to my art studio beside the River Thames.
