Tucked away up a long drive in Effingham is a creative haven where a large garden has been created to inspire and inform the work of former Surrey Artist of the Year Tessa Pearson and young sculptor Greg Pearson. Trained in printed textiles at Farnham and the Royal College of Art Tessa now works exclusively on paper, making colourful monoprints and paintings. Passionate about gardens, Tessa has created a garden to paint and all her work begins with her fabulous sketches made outside in her borders or from other gardens discovered on her travels. Skilled in various printmaking techniques, Tessa is currently using screen monoprinting to create bold abstract garden florals and paints using watercolour in a contemporary modern style. Tessa’s large garden studio will be showing a range of framed and unframed work from her current collections, together with work ’from the archives’ at reduced prices, only available at Open Studios. Tessa’s sketchbooks will all be open to see and visitors will be able to view occasional demonstrations of printmaking techniques. Greg Pearson works in a shared workshop studio where he makes highly original abstract metal sculpture using a very personal technique of meticulously cold hand forming steel tube and rebar. Following a passion for natural form and minimalism, his works aim to celebrate and echo the environment around them in distinct, bold formations of shape, depth and balance. His sculptures can be found anywhere within your garden and home through bespoke commissions, personal design, large and small instillations as well as original creations that have featured in Gold medal winning Chelsea Flower Show show gardens and more.
