Shirley Ann Stephens

I am a self-taught Printmaker gaining skills over the years from wonderful lino artist's workshops in Shaftsbury, West Dean College and Ochre Studios and many new friends along the way. I have a small garden studio which is my haven, where I design, cut and print my linocuts. I am drawn towards bold designs, sometimes simply in black and white. Ancient and ethnic art intrigues me, and I love the humour in some manuscripts - this gives me quirky inspiration. I also enjoy creating mosaic pieces and will have some on display this year. I've been part of Surrey Artists Open Studios at Jeffreys Cottage, Dockenfield for many years, it's been great to share ideas and experiences with my group and studio visitors.
