Edward Nowak

Highly acclaimed award-winning artist and author Edward Nowak was brought up and educated in a Scottish mining community and following his scholarships with Heriot Watt University and the College of Art in Edinburgh he gained a BA (Hons) degree. His work has been displayed at the Royal Academy of Arts in London, the Royal Scottish Academy in Edinburgh and more widely throughout the United Kingdom and abroad. He is a past Chairman of Dalkeith and District Arts Guild. In 1981 Edward won first prize in the Stowell’s of Chelsea National Competition for “Modern Warsaw” which was subsequently displayed at the Royal Academy of Arts in London. The Award was presented to Edward by Norman St John-Stevas, the then Minister for the Arts. Edward works from his Surrey studio and also undertakes commission work for businesses, local authorities and for private collections. He also writes and illustrates children’s novels.
