Julia Adams

I use a variety of mixed media to produce my work - household glosses, spray paints, acrylics, inks and various printing techniques. I like to apply paint with real freedom and spontaneity to produce paintings that have energy and depth, exploring my passion for surface quality, colour, texture and tactility. My 3 main themes are Interiors, Architecture and Abstract Flowers. My recent series of ‘Interior Spaces’ paintings have been very popular and are constantly evolving. As a starting point I use a found image or one of my own photographs, adding or removing elements as I feel necessary to enhance the composition. I then start to play with my materials, constantly adding and subtracting. I will often include abstract stencilling to add a sense of drama, and introduce rivets to add further interest. I also enjoy including text, whether stencilled or found words in magazines. I also work to commission.
