Lindsay Sword

Lindsay always loved painting and drawing as a child and began painting again in 2007 as relaxation from her working life as a GP. During a year long sabbatical in New Zealand in 2016 she studied acrylic painting with two prominent NZ artists and found the medium perfect for conveying the beauty of the vivid and stunning land and seascapes of the South Island. Back in England she continued to paint landscapes in acrylics, inspired by both near and distant scenes and won several awards for her paintings in local exhibitions. In 2024 she was invited to exhibit with 6 other landscape painters at the Watts Contemporary Gallery in the artists’ village at Compton and later that year at the Summer Exhibition of Guildford Arts and at Guildford Institute. She continues to paint in acrylics and water colours and recently began to explore the different possibilities that oil paints offer.
