Parul of The Sea

Contemporary Watercolour Artist

ARTIST BIO - Parul has exhibited with the Royal Watercolour Society, the Royal Insitute of Painters in Watercolour and the Affordable Art Fair. Parul has organically grown her art practise over decades. Her practise became an important space for her to reclaim her identity after 2021 when a family illness shook the structure of her life. Parul's work is on permanent display at BlueHouse artspace in Esher as well as in International collections. She received a BA hons Jewellery Design degree from Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in 1999 and in 2018 she completed a course on Sustainability in Leadership at the Cambridge Institute of Sustainability. ARTIST STATEMENT - Each serene painting contains fragility, resilience and elements of untamed freedom, as Parul navigates the outside world through introspection. There is joy, awe and at times a sense of loss found in Parul’s relationship with the living world. Moments of light expose a sense that the connection to nature we covet as humans is a connection to ourselves. Through her work, she becomes aware in waves of realisation that we are nature. Her visual language grows from a lifelong relationship of living near or visiting the ocean. The sensory experience from Parul’s first life-affirming snorkel over a thriving reef remains an enduring influence as she paints otherworldly underwater scenes using fluid watercolour strokes, delicate layers of translucent colour and organic spaces textured with detail. .
